Dear Friends and Bibliophiles,
I’d like to inform you all that, after 22 years and with a bit of sadness, I’ve decided to close down my antiquarian bookshop.
It was a difficult decision, but unfortunately unavoidable: I’ve been spending most of my efforts in my family’s publishing house – Franco Cosimo Panini Editore – and business and family commitments are becoming more pressing every day and I can not give the bookshop the time and energies it deserves.
Nevertheless, shutting down the bookshop did not make me give up the passion for ancient books that has always lived in me and that is still the focus of my job: looking for the most precious illuminated books of the Renaissance, held – sometimes even forgotten – in the most important libraries in the world. What for? In order to bring them to light, to unveil them and to make them known to a wide public through facsimile reproductions and to give everybody the opportunity to discover true treasures of Knowledge and Beauty. An exhilarating experience, led by the same dream that inspired my father: gather together the most beautiful books of world in an ideal Impossible Library.
And it’s for this reason that, if you’ll see me at an exhibition, a fair or an auction, I won’t be there as an antiquarian bookseller, but as a curious and keen collector.
My warmest wishes to all of you,
Lucia
